Automotive Engineering
Automotive engineering is a team open to any students interested in hands-on, real-world, problem solving and automotive-related projects. This encompasses the technical aspects of engineering and design as well as practical skills such as welding and utilizing various tools and equipment. This also includes various aspects of project management, including planning, budgetary considerations, professional communication and presentations, and maintaining sponsor and public relations. The primary project of focus called Baja SAE. This a collegiate design series run by SAE International (Society of Automotive Engineers). Each year there are 3 national competitions in which teams compete to design, build, and race a single-seat off-road vehicle. The Baja project is a real-world engineering and product development challenge. Teams are judged on their design, manufacturing, cost, business presentation, and performance in acceleration, maneuverability, traction, suspension, and a 4-hour endurance race! Our Baja team provides an excellent opportunity for growth, leadership, and community for engineering, business, or any other students who want to turn a wrench, build their resume, or just want to be a part of really cool and rewarding process and achievement!
