I'm grateful to have a job where I am always learning through the pursuit of meaningful research and impactful teaching. It's especially meaningful to me when both aspects of my work intersect - when I introduce students to a cutting-edge statistical or analytical tool that I have recently applied in my own research, or when conveying an idea to clearly to students enables me to think of this concept in a new way.
Economics of the Public Sector, Sports Economics
My research interests include public finance, urban economics, and the economics of innovation. I am particularly interested in how public policy decisions affect the geographic pattern of public investment, public services, innovation, and other economic outcomes. My recent research has studied how political partisanship affects the distribution of state government expenditures, the effect of fiscal policy on innovation, and how negative labor demand shocks affect local public finance decisions.
