She received her BS from the University of Wisconsin 鈥 Madison and her Master鈥檚 in International Business Studies from the University of South Carolina. After several years living abroad, she returned to the U. S. and pursued her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin 鈥 Milwaukee. During that time, she spent eight years working as a financial and risk management supervisor in the insurance industry. She is the author of a textbook for Microeconomic principles entitled Learning through Practice. She is also the faculty director for the Applied Global Business Learning program, sending students to communities around the developing world to work with entrepreneurs to improve their businesses.

My current research deals with the Belizean market and the role of marketing boards in strengthening coops in former British colonies. Additionally, I am looking into the role of ''gray markets" on cooperatives in the developing world. I hope to be presenting at the LASA (Latin American Studies Association) conference in Paris next May.
