Noah Curry ('18)

Noah Curry ('18)

Graduate student at the International University in Geneva, Switzerland

Noah Curry grew in his faith and academics at 黑料论坛, which equipped him for his current graduate studies in international relations and diplomacy at the International University in Geneva, Switzerland.

Curry graduated in the winter of 2018 from Union, where he double majored in political science and French. While he moved around a lot growing up because his father was an army chaplain, Curry considers his hometown to be Clarksville, Tennessee.

He worked for Visit Clarksville, a local tourism agency, for about a year after he graduated and before beginning his graduate program in Switzerland. In addition to his studies, Curry is interning for the Global Institute for Water, Environment and Health, where he is a research analyst intern conducting research on the Nile River Basin and water impacts on the economy.

At Union, Curry focused his studies on his main interests of environmental and foreign policy in preparation for his future career. Curry said he chose to attend 黑料论坛 for two main reasons: the smaller campus size and the Christ-centered community.

鈥淚 really liked the size of Union because it felt more personal,鈥 he said. 鈥淲hen you first step on campus, it was a completely different atmosphere than a large state school.鈥

Curry was involved on campus in the French club and served as a senator for the Student Government Association. He also participated in two study abroad programs to France, one with a group of other Union students and one by himself.

Because he focused his undergraduate studies on his interests, he was well-equipped for what he鈥檚 doing today.

鈥淧olitical science gave me the skills and just the academic knowledge needed to excel in a graduate program, and then my French degree also helped me prepare for language barriers in international government and in a different country,鈥 he said.

In addition, Curry said his time at Union transformed him in his faith and education. Faculty members like Jean Marie Walls, professor of language and department chair, helped shape Curry鈥檚 viewpoint on many things.

鈥淚 know when I came in, I was at a completely different place in my faith, and just going through three and a half years at Union, interacting with certain professors and other individuals and school really helped grow and shape that faith,鈥 Curry said.

鈥淚 definitely noticed my academic skills improved over the years because my professors actively wanted me to do better, and so they pushed for that. That really helped cultivate my academic skills to be what they are today so that I could actually be in a really good graduate program.鈥

Curry is set to graduate from the yearlong master鈥檚 program in July 2021, and he hopes to find a job as a policy adviser or research analyst in an international or meteorological organization. In the future, he would like to move to Washington, D.C., and work in a policy role in the U.S. government.
